Liquid staking token

A token representing a staked position, tradable while the underlying assets remain locked in the protocol.

Liquid staking tokens sit awkwardly in accounting standards. Whether one is itself an in-scope crypto asset, or a claim on another asset and therefore outside scope, is not settled — and the answer changes the measurement basis entirely.

The mechanics differ too: some rebase, changing balance while price tracks the underlying; others accrue value in the price. Those produce different revenue-recognition patterns for what economically is the same return.
